(ANSA) - Rome, May 20 - Al Qaeda has been weakened by the loss of Osama Bin Laden but its threat remains, Italian President Giorgio Napolitano said Friday.

"Without Bin Laden Al Qaeda has been strongly weakened," the head of state said at the NATO Defence College in Rome on its 60th anniversary.

"But we must remain vigilant against the terrorist threat," Napolitano stressed.
