Rome, March 8 - The 'Nuvola' (Cloud) conference centre under construction in Rome may be halted if the city's local council fails to approve a leg of the construction by March 15, according to renowned architect Massimiliano Fuksas. Builders have been waiting for approval on the latest instalment since 2011, Fuksas told ANSA.

The Nuvola conference center is expected to be built in the Fascist-era EUR district on the southern outskirts of the capital, where the city's first skyscraper has gone up recently.

Aside from the 28-floor, 120-metre-high apartment building, the neighbourhood has also benefited from other recent prestigious projects including a residential tower by Renzo Piano. "Italy doesn't have a state," Fuksas said. "It only has a lot of bureaucracy".
